Methotrexate + ticagrelor is a combination of two small molecule drugs, methotrexate and ticagrelor. Methotrexate is an antimetabolite and antifolate agent that inhibits dihydrofolate reductase, leading to suppression of DNA synthesis and immunosuppressive effects. It is widely used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, certain cancers, and psoriasis. Ticagrelor is a reversible antagonist of the purinergic P2Y12 receptor on platelets, inhibiting platelet aggregation to reduce thrombotic events such as myocardial infarction or stroke. Recent clinical studies suggest that adding ticagrelor to methotrexate therapy may enhance disease control in patients with moderate-to-severe rheumatoid arthritis by further suppressing disease activity[1][2].
