Overview

This is a combination drug consisting of methylphenidate and tipepidine. Methylphenidate is a central nervous system stimulant primarily used to treat attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). It acts as a norepinephrine–dopamine reuptake inhibitor, increasing the synaptic concentrations of these neurotransmitters in the brain, thereby improving attention and reducing hyperactivity and impulsivity[5][7]. Tipepidine is a synthetic, non-opioid antitussive of the thiambutene class that inhibits G protein-coupled inwardly-rectifying potassium channels (GIRKs), which modulates monoaminergic neurotransmission. Tipepidine has been investigated for psychiatric uses including ADHD, where it may enhance dopaminergic signaling without typical stimulant side effects[6][8]. Clinical studies have evaluated this combination for improved efficacy in managing ADHD symptoms compared to methylphenidate alone[1].
