methylphenidate + vortioxetine

This is a combination of two pharmaceutical drugs, methylphenidate and vortioxetine. Methylphenidate is a central nervous system stimulant primarily used for the treatment of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and narcolepsy. It acts mainly by inhibiting the reuptake of dopamine and norepinephrine, increasing their concentrations in the synaptic cleft. Vortioxetine is an antidepressant indicated for major depressive disorder (MDD). It functions as a serotonin modulator and stimulator, acting as a serotonin transporter inhibitor, 5-HT3, 5-HT1D, and 5-HT7 receptor antagonist; 5-HT1B receptor partial agonist; and 5-HT1A receptor agonist. The combination has been explored in case reports for co-occurring ADHD and depression or anxiety disorders[2][4]. There are potential pharmacodynamic interactions between these agents that may increase side effects such as hypertension or risk of serotonin syndrome[1][3][6].
