Overview

This is a combination therapy consisting of methylphenidate, a central nervous system stimulant commonly used to treat attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and zinc sulfate, an inorganic compound providing supplemental zinc. Methylphenidate acts primarily by inhibiting the reuptake of dopamine and norepinephrine in the brain, thereby increasing their synaptic concentrations and improving attention and impulse control. Zinc is an essential trace element involved in numerous enzymatic processes, including those related to neurotransmitter metabolism; it may modulate dopaminergic activity and has been studied as an adjunctive treatment for ADHD. Clinical studies have shown that adding zinc sulfate to methylphenidate therapy can result in greater improvement of ADHD symptoms compared to methylphenidate alone[1][2][5]. The combination is not a standard pharmaceutical product but has been investigated in clinical trials as adjunctive therapy.
