Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination therapy consisting of methylprednisolone, a corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties, and efgartigimod, a neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn) blocker. This combination works by reducing pathogenic IgG antibodies through efgartigimod's blockade of FcRn-mediated antibody recycling, while methylprednisolone provides anti-inflammatory effects. The combination has shown efficacy in treating autoimmune conditions including neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (NMOSD), immune-mediated necrotizing myopathy (IMNM), and myasthenic crisis in generalized myasthenia gravis.
