Overview

A combination therapy consisting of methylprednisolone (a corticosteroid) and romiplostim (a thrombopoietin receptor agonist). This combination has shown synergistic efficacy in treating refractory immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). Romiplostim stimulates platelet production by binding to and activating the thrombopoietin receptor on megakaryocyte precursors, while methylprednisolone provides immunosuppressive and anti-inflammatory effects. The combination allows for effective treatment while potentially enabling lower doses of each individual component.
