Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Metocarbamol + paracetamol is a fixed-dose combination drug used for the short-term symptomatic treatment of painful muscle spasms associated with acute musculoskeletal disorders such as lower back pain. Metocarbamol acts as a centrally acting muscle relaxant by blocking nerve impulses or pain sensations sent to the brain and spinal cord. Paracetamol (also known as acetaminophen) is an analgesic and antipyretic that relieves pain and reduces fever by inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins in the central nervous system. The combination provides both muscle relaxation and pain relief. It is typically used alongside rest and physical therapy[1][3][5].
