Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination therapy consisting of metoprolol, a cardio-selective beta-blocker, and sibutramine, a selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor used for weight loss. The addition of low-dose metoprolol (typically 25 mg/day) to sibutramine therapy (typically 10 mg/day) helps mitigate cardiovascular side effects of sibutramine such as hypertension and palpitations, while maintaining weight loss efficacy. This combination has been shown to increase patient compliance and decrease dropout rates in obesity treatment.
