This is a combination of three small molecule drugs—metronidazole, ciprofloxacin, and aspirin. Metronidazole is a nitroimidazole antibiotic and antiprotozoal agent that works by disrupting DNA synthesis in anaerobic bacteria and certain parasites. Ciprofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination. Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that irreversibly inhibits cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), leading to decreased formation of prostaglandins involved in pain, inflammation, fever, and platelet aggregation. This combination does not correspond to any widely recognized or marketed fixed-dose product but may be used off-label or in clinical settings where broad-spectrum antibacterial coverage with added anti-inflammatory/analgesic effect is desired. The combination of metronidazole with ciprofloxacin has been studied for the treatment of mixed aerobic/anaerobic infections[4]. Aspirin adds analgesic/antipyretic effects but also increases bleeding risk when combined with antibiotics.
