Diazoltec (Shuang Zuo Tai) is a fixed-dose combination vaginal therapy widely used in China for the treatment of mixed vaginal infections, including bacterial vaginosis (BV), vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC), and trichomonal vaginitis. It contains three active ingredients: metronidazole, a nitroimidazole antimicrobial that targets anaerobic bacteria and protozoa by causing DNA strand breakage; clotrimazole, an azole antifungal that inhibits the enzyme lanosterol 14-alpha demethylase to disrupt fungal ergosterol synthesis; and chlorhexidine acetate, a broad-spectrum antiseptic that disrupts microbial cell membranes. The effervescent tablet formulation is designed for vaginal administration, providing rapid dissolution and comprehensive antimicrobial coverage against the diverse pathogens involved in complex vaginal dysbiosis.
