Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Metronidazole + ticarcillin is an antibiotic combination used to treat various bacterial infections. Metronidazole is a nitroimidazole antibiotic effective against anaerobic bacteria and certain parasites, while ticarcillin is a semisynthetic penicillin with broad-spectrum bactericidal activity against many gram-positive and gram-negative aerobic and anaerobic bacteria. This combination is particularly useful for mixed infections where both aerobic and anaerobic bacteria may be present. The combination provides coverage against a wide range of pathogens, making it suitable for complicated infections including intra-abdominal infections.
