Drug intelligence / Profile preview
metronidazole + Umeta-mimi is a combination therapy consisting of vaginal metronidazole suppositories and oral Umeta-mimi (also known as Umeta-Miyue) probiotics. Metronidazole is a nitroimidazole small molecule antibiotic that targets anaerobic bacteria by disrupting DNA synthesis, effectively treating the underlying infection in bacterial vaginosis. Umeta-mimi is a live biotherapeutic product containing the probiotic strains Lactobacillus rhamnosus GR-1 and Lactobacillus reuteri RC-14, which are intended to restore and maintain a healthy vaginal microbiome to prevent disease recurrence. This combination is currently being evaluated in a Phase 4 clinical trial sponsored by Peking University Shenzhen Hospital for the treatment and prevention of recurrent bacterial vaginosis.
