MGB-001 (MetaGen Biologics)

MGB-001 is a biosimilar monoclonal antibody developed by MetaGen Biologics, intended to replicate the efficacy and safety of adalimumab (Humira). It functions as a tumor necrosis factor (TNF) blocker, neutralizing the pro-inflammatory cytokine to alleviate symptoms and induce remission in various autoimmune disorders. The drug has completed Phase 3 clinical trials for a range of indications, including rheumatoid arthritis (joints), ankylosing spondylitis (spine), psoriasis (skin), and inflammatory bowel diseases such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease (gut ulcers). As a biosimilar, MGB-001 is developed to provide a cost-effective alternative to the reference biologic, expanding treatment options for patients with debilitating inflammatory conditions.
