Overview
Miconazole + fluprednidene (brand name: Decoderm tri) is a topical combination cream developed by Dermapharm AG for the treatment of inflamed cutaneous candidiasis. It contains miconazole nitrate (2%), an azole antifungal that inhibits fungal cytochrome P450 enzymes—specifically lanosterol 14-alpha demethylase—to disrupt ergosterol biosynthesis in the fungal cell membrane. The second component, fluprednidene acetate (0.1%), is a synthetic corticosteroid that acts as a glucocorticoid receptor agonist to reduce inflammation, redness, and itching. The drug is currently in Phase 3 clinical development in Germany, where it is being compared against Vobaderm cream and vehicle controls for efficacy in adults with moderate to severely inflamed skin and nail infections caused by Candida species.
