Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Afdol-MN is a topical combination cream developed by Anglo-French Drugs & Industries for the treatment of mixed bacterial, fungal, and inflammatory skin conditions. It contains three active ingredients: nadifloxacin (a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic), miconazole (an imidazole antifungal), and mometasone (a mid-potent corticosteroid). Nadifloxacin exerts its antibacterial effect by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, thereby disrupting DNA replication. Miconazole acts as an antifungal by inhibiting lanosterol 14-alpha demethylase, which prevents ergosterol synthesis and disrupts fungal cell membrane integrity. Mometasone binds to the glucocorticoid receptor to reduce the production of inflammatory mediators, relieving itching, redness, and swelling. This triple-action formulation is indicated for various dermatological conditions, including tinea infections, eczema, dermatitis, and secondary bacterial or fungal skin infections.
