The combination may be considered in refractory cases requiring profound sedation (e.g., status epilepticus unresponsive to standard therapy), though such triple regimens are rare due to risk of cumulative CNS depression. Each drug potentiates inhibitory neurotransmission via distinct but overlapping mechanisms on the GABA-A receptor complex.
