Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Minoxidil + doxycycline is a small molecule combination drug developed by Elastin Biosciences, a spin-off from Longaevus Technologies. It is part of an elastin restoration platform aimed at treating elastin-deficiency diseases such as abdominal aortic aneurysm, Williams syndrome, and dermatological diseases. The drug works by inhibiting the degradation of elastin, specifically targeting Matrix metalloproteinase-2 and Matrix metalloproteinase-9, and by promoting the deposition of tropoelastin, the precursor to elastin. Preclinical studies have shown that drug combinations from this platform increased elastin expression 5-fold and improved aortic elasticity in aged mice.
