Overview

Heqet Therapeutics is developing a microRNA-based therapeutic program targeting miR-33b* (specifically the miR-33b-3p strand) and miR-1825 to promote cardiac regeneration. Founded as a spin-out from King's College London by Prof. Mauro Giacca, the company aims to treat myocardial infarction and prevent heart failure by stimulating the proliferation of surviving cardiomyocytes. These non-coding RNA modulators, likely microRNA mimics, are designed to induce heart muscle cell division, potentially enabling the repair of damaged tissue. The program is currently in the discovery phase. Heqet is collaborating with delivery platform partners, including 4basebio and Altamira Therapeutics, to optimize the delivery of these microRNA therapeutics to damaged heart tissue.
