Overview

Miravirsen + telaprevir is an investigational combination therapy consisting of **miravirsen**, an antisense oligonucleotide that targets the liver-specific microRNA-122 (miR-122), and **telaprevir**, a small molecule inhibitor of the hepatitis C virus (HCV) NS3/4A protease. Miravirsen inhibits HCV replication by binding and sequestering miR-122, a host factor required for HCV stability and replication. Telaprevir directly inhibits viral replication by blocking the NS3/4A protease, an enzyme crucial for processing the viral polyprotein. The combination has been studied for the treatment of chronic HCV, including in "null responder" populations, and preclinical studies indicate **additive antiviral effects** when both drugs are used together[1][2][4][5][6].
