Overview

MIT-001 + CCRT refers to the combination of MIT-001, a mitochondria-targeted antioxidant and anti-inflammatory small molecule, with concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT). MIT-001 is an indole-derived, cell-permeable compound that specifically scavenges reactive oxygen species (ROS) in mitochondria and inhibits high mobility group protein B1 (HMGB1), thereby reducing inflammation and necrosis. The combination is being developed primarily for the prevention and treatment of oral mucositis in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) undergoing CCRT. Oral mucositis is a common, severe complication of chemoradiotherapy that currently lacks effective medical treatments. MIT-001 aims to address this unmet need by mitigating oxidative stress and inflammatory damage induced by cancer therapy[1][5][6][7].
