Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**GLUBES** is an oral fixed-dose antidiabetic combination of mitiglinide calcium hydrate and voglibose, developed and marketed in Japan by Kissei for type 2 diabetes mellitus when concomitant treatment with both components is appropriate. Each tablet contains mitiglinide calcium hydrate 10 mg and voglibose 0.2 mg. Mitiglinide is a rapid, short-acting insulin secretagogue that promotes early postprandial insulin release, while voglibose inhibits intestinal alpha-glucosidases to delay carbohydrate digestion and absorption, thereby reducing postprandial glucose excursions. GLUBES was launched as a conventional tablet in July 2011; an orally disintegrating tablet formulation was launched in June 2019.
