Overview

Mitoxantrone + vincristine is a combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of two small molecule cytotoxic agents, mitoxantrone and vincristine. Mitoxantrone is an anthracenedione antineoplastic agent that intercalates into DNA, causing crosslinks and strand breaks, and inhibits topoisomerase II, leading to inhibition of DNA replication and repair. Vincristine is a vinca alkaloid that binds to tubulin, inhibiting microtubule formation in the mitotic spindle, resulting in cell cycle arrest at metaphase. This combination has been used primarily for the treatment of resistant or relapsed hematologic malignancies such as multiple myeloma and malignant lymphomas[1][2]. The regimen may be combined with other agents (e.g., prednisone or dexamethasone) depending on disease context.
