Overview

Mitoxantrone + vindesine is a combination chemotherapy regimen composed of two cytotoxic agents, mitoxantrone and vindesine. Mitoxantrone is a synthetic anthracenedione antineoplastic agent that intercalates into DNA, causing crosslinks and strand breaks, and inhibits topoisomerase II, leading to impaired DNA repair and fragmentation. Vindesine is a vinca alkaloid that disrupts microtubule formation by binding to tubulin, thereby inhibiting mitosis in cancer cells. This combination has been explored for use in various malignancies due to their complementary mechanisms of action as cell cycle–nonspecific (mitoxantrone) and M-phase–specific (vindesine) agents.
