Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Mitoxantrone hydrochloride liposome (PLM60) is a liposomal nano-formulation of the synthetic anthracycline-like agent mitoxantrone. It acts as a DNA topoisomerase II inhibitor, intercalating into DNA and causing strand breaks, which inhibits DNA synthesis and repair. This formulation is designed to improve the pharmacokinetic profile and reduce the cardiotoxicity associated with conventional mitoxantrone. It has been approved by China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) for the treatment of relapsed or refractory peripheral T-cell lymphoma. Additionally, it is being investigated in combination regimens, such as GVM±R (gemcitabine, vinorelbine, and mitoxantrone liposome with or without rituximab), for the treatment of relapsed or refractory aggressive non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
