Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MIYAIRI-BM + magnesium oxide is a combination therapy being evaluated for the treatment of functional constipation, particularly in pediatric populations. MIYAIRI-BM is a probiotic preparation containing *Clostridium butyricum* MIYAIRI 588, a spore-forming, gram-positive anaerobe that produces butyric acid. Butyrate serves as a primary energy source for colonocytes and helps regulate intestinal motility and inflammation. Magnesium oxide acts as an osmotic laxative by drawing water into the intestinal lumen, softening stools and increasing bowel movement frequency. This combination aims to address both the physiological symptoms of constipation and the underlying dysbiosis of the intestinal microflora.
