Modified FOLFOX6 + bevacizumab is a combination chemotherapy regimen primarily used for the treatment of advanced or metastatic colorectal cancer. The "modified FOLFOX6" component consists of oxaliplatin, leucovorin (folinic acid), and fluorouracil (5-FU) administered in specific doses and schedules that differ slightly from the original FOLFOX regimens. Bevacizumab, a monoclonal antibody targeting vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A), is added to inhibit tumor angiogenesis. The mechanism of action involves cytotoxic effects on rapidly dividing cells by the chemotherapeutic agents and inhibition of blood vessel formation by bevacizumab, thereby restricting tumor growth and metastasis[1][4][8]. This regimen is considered standard first-line therapy for metastatic colorectal cancer.
