Overview

**Moexipril + hydrochlorothiazide** is an oral fixed-dose antihypertensive combination of moexipril hydrochloride, an angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor prodrug converted to the active metabolite moexiprilat, and hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic. Moexiprilat inhibits angiotensin-converting enzyme, reducing angiotensin II formation, vasoconstriction, and aldosterone secretion; hydrochlorothiazide promotes renal sodium and chloride excretion through effects in the distal renal tubule. The combination was marketed as Uniretic in the United States in immediate-release tablet strengths including 7.5 mg/12.5 mg, 15 mg/12.5 mg, and 15 mg/25 mg, and is indicated for hypertension.
