Overview

Uniretic is a combination antihypertensive medication consisting of moexipril hydrochloride, an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor, and hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic. Moexipril works by inhibiting the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system, preventing the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, which leads to reduced vasoconstriction and lower blood pressure. Hydrochlorothiazide promotes diuresis by inhibiting sodium and chloride reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubules of the kidneys, thereby reducing fluid volume. Paddock Laboratories developed a generic formulation of this combination, which is indicated for the treatment of hypertension. Bioavailability studies have compared Paddock's generic tablets to the reference product, Uniretic, in various strengths including 7.5mg/12.5mg, 15mg/12.5mg, and 15mg/25mg.
