Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This investigational treatment, developed by LifeBridge Health, is a combination therapy consisting of mometasone furoate (a corticosteroid) and levofloxacin (a fluoroquinolone antibiotic) formulated in a poloxamer-based thermosensitive gel. The gel is designed for local, sustained drug delivery to the sinus cavities following balloon sinuplasty in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis, with or without nasal polyps. The poloxamer gel acts as a drug delivery system that transitions from a liquid to a gel at body temperature, allowing for precise application and prolonged contact with the sinus mucosa to reduce inflammation and treat potential bacterial infection. It is currently being evaluated in a Phase 3 clinical trial as a drug-device combination product.
