Overview

This is a combination drug consisting of mometasone (typically used as its ester, mometasone furoate), a synthetic corticosteroid with potent anti-inflammatory activity, and phenethicillin (also known as pheneticillin), an oral penicillin-class antibiotic. Mometasone acts by binding to glucocorticoid receptors to modulate gene expression and suppress inflammatory pathways. Phenethicillin inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), leading to bactericidal effects against susceptible organisms. This combination would theoretically provide both anti-inflammatory and antibacterial effects for conditions where both inflammation and infection are present.
