Overview
**Montelukast + MK-1029** is a combination of two small molecule drugs evaluated for the treatment of persistent asthma that is uncontrolled by montelukast alone. **Montelukast** is a leukotriene receptor antagonist approved for asthma and allergy symptoms, while **MK-1029** is a selective antagonist of the prostaglandin D2 receptor 2 (CRTH2, also known as DP2), developed by Merck Sharp & Dohme. MK-1029 targets allergic inflammation pathways involved in asthma, particularly in patients with a genetic marker predictive of response. The combination was studied to determine if MK-1029 could improve lung function (measured by FEV1) when added to montelukast therapy[1][2][3][5].
