Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Morphine + Clonidine** is a combination therapy that leverages synergistic interactions between morphine (an opioid analgesic) and clonidine (an alpha-2 adrenergic receptor agonist). This combination demonstrates significantly enhanced pain relief (antinociception) without proportionally increasing side effects. Research has shown that when administered together, these medications can provide approximately 100-fold increase in potency with an improved therapeutic window (approximately 200-fold). The combination allows for effective pain management at non-sedating doses with minimal cardiovascular depression and without significantly potentiating respiratory depression. It is particularly useful in cases where opioids alone are insufficient for pain control, such as severe cancer pain.
