Morphine + nalbuphine is a combination of two opioid analgesics used for pain management, particularly in postoperative settings. Morphine is a classic mu-opioid receptor agonist that provides potent analgesia by acting on the central nervous system to alter the perception and response to pain. Nalbuphine is a mixed opioid agonist-antagonist; it acts as an agonist at kappa opioid receptors and as an antagonist (or partial agonist) at mu opioid receptors. When combined, low-dose nalbuphine with morphine can reduce certain opioid-related side effects such as nausea without compromising analgesic efficacy or increasing patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) requirements.
