Overview
**Mosapride + probiotics** is a combination therapy used primarily to manage gastrointestinal disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and feeding intolerance in premature infants. Mosapride is a selective 5-HT4 receptor agonist that stimulates gastrointestinal motility and may also have weak antagonistic effects on the 5-HT3 receptor via its metabolite. Probiotics included in reported preparations most commonly consist of live Bacillus subtilis, Streptococcus faecium, and sometimes Saccharomyces boulardii, which help stabilize the gut microbiota and improve gut function. Clinical trials have demonstrated that this combination is effective in relieving global IBS symptoms, improving stool frequency and consistency (especially in constipation-predominant IBS), reducing abdominal pain/discomfort, and improving feeding tolerance and growth parameters in premature infants. The mechanism of action is through enhanced GI motility (mosapride) and modulation of gut microbial balance and mucosal function (probiotics)[1][2][3][4].
