Overview

**Moxifloxacin + bromfenac** is a fixed‑dose ophthalmic combination of the fluoroquinolone antibiotic moxifloxacin and the nonsteroidal anti‑inflammatory drug (NSAID) bromfenac, compounded or formulated as sterile eye drops for use around cataract and other ocular surgery. Moxifloxacin inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, blocking DNA replication and repair and thereby providing broad‑spectrum coverage against common ocular pathogens, while bromfenac inhibits cyclo‑oxygenase enzymes (primarily COX‑2) to reduce prostaglandin synthesis, ocular inflammation, pain, and macular edema after surgery.[1][5] This dual‑agent formulation is used mainly for prevention and treatment of postoperative ocular infection and for control of inflammation and pain, often as part of simplified, single‑bottle postoperative regimens.
