Overview

Moxifloxacin + ibuprofen refers to the concurrent use of moxifloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV to prevent bacterial DNA replication and kill susceptible bacteria, combined with ibuprofen, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that nonselectively inhibits cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) enzymes to reduce prostaglandin synthesis, thereby alleviating pain, fever, and inflammation. This combination is not a fixed-dose product or approved formulation but rather co-administration sometimes considered for bacterial infections with pain or inflammation; however, it carries significant risks including increased central nervous system (CNS) stimulation, seizures, mood alterations, and neuroexcitatory effects due to potential pharmacodynamic interactions.[1][2][3][5]
