Moxifloxacin + kanamycin is a combination of two antibiotics used primarily in the treatment of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB). Moxifloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for DNA replication and repair. Kanamycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit, inhibiting protein synthesis in bacteria. This combination is part of second-line regimens recommended by the World Health Organization for MDR-TB when resistance or intolerance to first-line drugs exists. The regimen typically includes other agents as well, but moxifloxacin and kanamycin are key components due to their complementary mechanisms against Mycobacterium tuberculosis[4][5].
