Mofdrib-T is a fixed-dose combination ophthalmic solution containing the fluoroquinolone antibiotic moxifloxacin and the aminoglycoside antibiotic tobramycin. Marketed by Akrovis Pharmaceuticals, it is primarily used for the treatment of bacterial infections of the eye, such as conjunctivitis, and for post-operative prophylaxis to prevent infection. Moxifloxacin provides broad-spectrum antibacterial activity by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, which are essential for DNA replication and transcription. Tobramycin complements this by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit, thereby inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis.
