Overview

A combination of **mRNA-1345**, a lipid nanoparticle–encapsulated mRNA vaccine encoding the prefusion-stabilized F glycoprotein of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and a **quadrivalent inactivated influenza vaccine** (includes brands such as SIIV4, Fluzone HD, Afluria). mRNA-1345 elicits strong neutralizing antibody responses against RSV-A and RSV-B by targeting the fusion (F) protein, a critical antigen for RSV immunity. The quadrivalent influenza vaccine contains inactivated viral antigens from four influenza strains (typically two influenza A and two influenza B), inducing humoral immunity (anti-hemagglutinin antibodies) to protect against seasonal influenza. Developed and manufactured by **Moderna** (for mRNA-1345). Influenza vaccine component is produced by various manufacturers (e.g., **Sanofi** for Fluzone HD, **Seqirus** for Afluria). The combination is evaluated for performance and safety when the two vaccines are administered concomitantly, not as a co-formulated single product. Studies consistently show coadministration is well tolerated, with robust immune responses to both RSV and influenza, and no new safety signals identified. This drug combination is primarily indicated for prevention of RSV and influenza in adults aged 50 years and older, particularly those at higher risk of severe disease[1][3][5][6].
