Overview
Micron Biomedical, in collaboration with Zipcode Bio, is developing a needle-free, mRNA-based influenza vaccine delivered via a proprietary dissolvable microarray patch (MAP) technology. The vaccine utilizes mRNA encoding influenza antigens, designed to provide broad protection against both seasonal and avian influenza strains. The mRNA is delivered directly into the immune-rich uppermost layers of the skin, bypassing pain sensors and potentially enhancing the immune response compared to traditional intramuscular injections. The technology is designed to be thermostable and more convenient for administration, potentially increasing vaccination rates. This program is currently in preclinical development and has received funding support from BARDA through the Patch Forward competition.
