MSC-PLGA is an investigational autologous cell therapy developed by Sophia Al-Adwan at the University of Jordan's Cell Therapy Center for the treatment of aneurysmal bone cysts (ABCs). The therapy consists of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) harvested from the patient's own bone marrow, which are expanded in osteogenic media supplemented with platelet lysate and then seeded onto a biodegradable poly lactic-co-glycolic acid (PLGA) scaffold. This tissue-engineered construct is implanted into the cyst cavity to facilitate bone healing and regeneration, particularly in patients who have failed standard treatments like allografts. The approach is currently being evaluated in a Phase 1/2 clinical trial (NCT03066245).
