Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**MT1988** is an investigational oral fixed-dose combination of the small molecules **tropisetron** and **varenicline**, developed by Monument Therapeutics for cognitive impairment associated with schizophrenia and for people at clinical high risk for psychosis. The combination is designed to modulate nicotinic acetylcholine receptor signaling: tropisetron provides partial nicotinic receptor agonism and serotonin 3 receptor antagonism, while varenicline provides nicotinic receptor agonism, including activity at alpha-7 and alpha-4 beta-2 nicotinic acetylcholine receptors. MT1988 has completed a Phase 1 multiple-dose safety and pharmacokinetic study in healthy adults and is being evaluated in a Phase 1/2 proof-of-principle study in participants at clinical high risk for psychosis.
