Overview

XYone Therapeutics is developing a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy targeting the MUC1-C oncoprotein for the treatment of solid tumors. MUC1-C is an oncoprotein that is aberrantly overexpressed in over 80% of epithelial cancers, where it plays a critical role in promoting oncogenic signaling, the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), and cancer stem cell phenotypes. The therapy involves engineering a patient's T cells to express a CAR specific to the MUC1-C extracellular domain, enabling the targeted recognition and destruction of tumor cells. The program is currently in the IND-enabling stage and is being developed in partnership with Everest Medicines. Additionally, XYone has licensed related intellectual property to Poseida Therapeutics (now part of Roche) for CAR technology applications in solid tumors.
