Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Mucograft is a porcine-derived, non-cross-linked, resorbable collagen matrix designed specifically for soft tissue regeneration in the oral cavity. It features a unique three-dimensional bilayer structure: a compact macro-structure that provides mechanical stability while allowing open healing, and a thick, porous spongious part that supports blood clot stabilization and the ingrowth of soft tissue cells. Developed and manufactured by Geistlich Pharma, Mucograft serves as a xenogeneic alternative to autogenous connective tissue grafts (SCTG) in periodontal plastic surgery. It is primarily indicated for treating isolated gingival recession defects and for increasing the zone of keratinized tissue around teeth and implants. By acting as a scaffold for vascularization and tissue integration, it eliminates the need for a second surgical site for graft harvesting, thereby reducing patient morbidity and surgical time.
