Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MULTIBIOTIC + NutriKane D is a combination therapy consisting of a multi-strain probiotic and a fiber-based prebiotic, investigated for the management of dry eye disease (DED). MULTIBIOTIC, developed by Medlab, is a probiotic capsule containing approximately 21 billion CFU of *Streptococcus*, *Lactobacillus*, and *Bifidobacterium* species. NutriKane D, developed by MediKane, is a prebiotic sachet containing Phytocell (sugarcane-derived Kfibre) and red sorghum flour. The combination targets the gut-eye axis, aiming to modulate the gut microbiota and reduce systemic and ocular surface inflammation. Clinical trials have demonstrated that the combination can improve dry eye symptoms (as measured by the Ocular Surface Disease Index) and stabilize clinical signs like tear break-up time and tear meniscus height.
