Overview

The mumps vaccine, live (human diploid cell) is a monovalent, live attenuated vaccine developed by the Institute of Medical Biology at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (IMBCAMS). This specific vaccine candidate is derived from an F-genotype mumps virus strain and is manufactured using a human diploid cell substrate (such as the KMB17 cell line), which is intended to offer improved purity and a lower risk of allergic reactions compared to traditional vaccines produced in chick embryo cells. The vaccine works by introducing a weakened form of the virus to stimulate the host's immune system, leading to the production of neutralizing antibodies and cellular immune responses against the mumps virus. It has been evaluated in Phase II/III clinical trials in China to assess its safety, immunogenicity, and clinical protective efficacy in healthy children aged 5 to 11 years.
