Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination antimicrobial regimen consisting of mupirocin (a topical antibiotic) and hexachlorophene (a bacteriostatic skin cleanser). This combination is primarily used for decolonization of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and prevention of recurrent skin infections. Mupirocin works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis through blocking isoleucyl-tRNA synthetase, while hexachlorophene acts as a bacteriostatic agent against gram-positive bacteria.
