Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Mutant pro-urokinase (M5) is a thrombolytic drug, a modified form of single-chain urokinase-type plasminogen activator (pro-urokinase). It is engineered for improved plasma stability by reducing its intrinsic catalytic activity, allowing it to maintain its proenzyme form until it encounters a thrombus. Its two-chain enzymatic form (tcM5) is susceptible to inhibition by C1-inhibitor, which helps prevent non-specific plasminogen activation and associated bleeding complications.
