Overview

MVA + HIVA is a combination vaccine candidate for HIV that utilizes the Modified Vaccinia Ankara (MVA) viral vector to deliver the synthetic "HIVA" immunogen. The "HIVA" component is a chimeric gene encoding conserved regions of the human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1), designed to induce robust and broad T-cell immune responses against HIV. The vaccine aims to stimulate both CD4+ and CD8+ T cell responses targeting multiple epitopes of the virus, with potential applications in both preventive and therapeutic settings for HIV infection. The approach leverages the safety profile of non-replicating MVA vectors and their ability to induce strong cellular immunity.
