MVC-COV1901 (Beta)

MVC-COV1901 (Beta) is a variant-adapted recombinant protein subunit vaccine developed by Medigen Vaccine Biologics Corp. for the prevention of COVID-19. It utilizes a stabilized prefusion SARS-CoV-2 spike protein (S-2P) specifically modified to match the Beta (B.1.351) variant of SARS-CoV-2. The vaccine is formulated with two adjuvants: CpG 1018, which is a Toll-like receptor 9 (TLR9) agonist, and aluminum hydroxide, both intended to enhance the immune response. Clinical evaluation has primarily focused on its application as a booster dose in adults who have previously completed a primary series with the original MVC-COV1901 vaccine. Phase I study results indicate that the vaccine is safe, well-tolerated, and capable of eliciting neutralizing antibodies against multiple SARS-CoV-2 variants, including the Omicron lineage.
